House Sitting

A friend of mine went out of town for a few days. So I am over at her house taking care of her animals and house sitting. This way I get time alone, not just away from home but alone, and she doesn't have to board her animals. Yeah I know away five days, home for two, now away for five more.

My asthma is really acting up. I definitely have bronchitis, and I think it's trying to go in to pneumonia. I am not getting out tomorrow. I am staying in and taking care of myself!

Wish I had pearls of wisdom to share, but they're just not here today. Some days are just for getting through.

It, unfortunately, didn't dawn on me to take pics until Sunday as everyone was leaving. Because of this these are the pictures that I managed to get taken.

 

Not long after these photos were taken a game of 42, dominoes, was started. Everyone had checked out of the hotel, but since we still had the conference room for a few more hours, they started playing dominoes. Fire alarm buzzes a second or two. We ask and are told it is a false alarm. It happens again. Then it goes off fully and we smell smoke, from an electrical fire. We grab some stuff and head outside. Long story short is the hotel had a small fire in the air conditioning system. They had lost the air condition! We all decided to go ahead and leave. Everyone helped each other ferry their stuff out to their autos and load up. We were grateful that if this had to happen, that it happened as we were leaving.

 

The smoke was enough to kick my asthma problems from the weekend in to bronchitis. So now I am feeling just "peachy swell", tongue in check. At least I am back home, until Thursday morning, and that's a plus.

Silent Auction and Bingo

Well Saturday, yesterday now, we had the silent auction and played bingo at the reunion. I won a pair of Sketchers Shape Ups, a teddy bear tea set, a pair of milk glass water goblets, a pair of milk glass candle sticks, and  a designer purse. Playing bingo I won a sports drinking bottle, laundry sock savers, a teddy bear pillow, two bracelets, and two pairs of earrings.

Some played a card game called "hand and foot". While some us played a domino game called "chicken foot". I was winning at chicken foot until the last two hands, but I did come in at second place.

Apparently here in Texas "dinner" means lunch. Because our family "dinner" was at lunchtime, go figure. Anyway, we had chicken from Kentucky Fried Chicken, along with baked beans, slaw, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, and biscuits. There was coconut cake, apple cake, strawberry short cake, and so much food and snacking going on throughout the evening most everyone stayed ate here.

It is now after 1am Sunday morning and I am tired. More later. Until then, I'll be stitching madly.

Stuffed To The Gills!

Well we're at the reunion and having fun already.

 A bunch of us went out to eat dinner, Mexican food, and I ate my share and then some! There was the usual chips and salsa, and they also had salsa verde that was to die for! We don't have it at in the restaurants back in Grove, so I ate it like it was going out of style. By the time our dinners were brought out I was already stuffed. To top it all off, I had an asthma attack while painfully full! Ah, but it was good.

I have bid on a number of items for the silent auction. A mini teddy bear tea set. A set of two milk glass candle sticks. Two milk glass water goblets. A pair of Sketcher's Shape Up's Tennis Shoes. A nice purse. I had to make myself stop pulling items off the bingo table to bid on so I'd have enough money left to play bingo with!

I have my knitting with me, a few different projects, but don't know when I'll work on anything. I have my Kindle Fire with me as well, and I will be reading but it may not be until the trip home. At some point tomorrow I know I'll be playing a "chicken foot",{a domino game}, and maybe even a game of cards.

Up and Posting!

I now have a new laptop and a way, other than my phone or Kindle Fire, to get online and post. There have been many changes in my life since my last post, but since I hadn't shared yet you won't have missed anything.

Hubby and son no.3 are at home, while Mom, brother Sister-in-law and I will be traveling to Tyler, Texas in the morning for a family reunion! There'll be snacking, domino playing, card playing, swimming, and visiting of all sorts going on this weekend. Last year dad was in the nursing home rehabbing so we didn't go. {This year he is choosing not to make the long car trip and stay home and watch the dogs.}

I am playing on my new laptop, so this post is a short one. I will do my best to post during the reunion and trip.
